Any Given Sunday

As my father-in-love says ... the four of us (Larry, DD, Jake and I) can usually be found lunching at Olive Garden on any given Sunday. He snapped a couple of pix before one of our Sunday lunches. So glad he did.
Makes me a little sad to think that our regular after-church-Sunday lunches are coming to an end after a little more than 2 years. But it's the end to a wonderful season in our lives and the beginning of another that promises to be just as beautiful in its own special way. So excited to see where the next path in life takes us and where God's best is for us. Enjoy each day as it comes, and don't fret over tomorrow.

Love & joy.

Lady Eagle Day - Take Your Wife to Work Day!

I got to be a pilot for a day and go to work with Jake. Wow - as if I wasn't already SUPER proud of my husband ... I'm now even that much more amazed by all he does on a daily basis. We wore our hubby's flight suits up to base, and got to go to the tower, fly in a sim, put on all their gear/equipment, do the parachute hang, and climb in one of the jets. It was so much fun. After all of the fun, we all met up at the Captain's Club for lunch!
I'm so proud of you, Jake, and of all you've accomplished. You are truly amazing, and I'm in awe of you. What a great group of men and women we have defending our country! God Bless the USA!

USMC Birthday Ball 2011

We had a blast at the Marine Corps Birthday Ball this year. It was our last ball in CC for a while - 2011 marks our third year to celebrate at the Omni Bayfront. We ate, danced, celebrated with bday cake and then danced some more. Donna and I even got to work in our funky line dance! Larry looked dashing in his tux, and Jake looked like a stud in his uniform - as always. We went up to the Republic of Texas after the party started fading for some extra fun! What a fun night! Can't wait until next year! Jake and (who am I kidding) I always love a good reason to get dolled up.

Purdy, 'Stache & QUALIFIED!

Purdy thinks she's a little human-dog. Well, she is a little girl-dog. So, that TOTALLY counts. She's so much fun. I'm so glad I have her for company when Jake's away. What a snuggle buggle.
And it's so cute to see how excited she gets when Jake comes home! Love it!
Jake went to the carrier last weekend and landed his jet on the aircraft carrier. HE QUALIFIED! Thank you so much for all the prayers! I'm so proud of him, and it's one step closer to his winging! We're very excited! Here are some before pictures with his boat 'stache. So glad that thing is gone - way to go, baby! After pictures to come soon. We have the Marine Corps Birthday Ball tomorrow night. I'll be sure to get some good pix and post them.

Bunks

It's been so nice to have David so close by. Since he made the big move to ATX to further the Longhorn Nees tradition, he's been a regular fixture at the Frederick house! I don't know if he comes for the company, Purdy, laundry service or home-cooked meals. Doesn't matter - we aren't complaining! We LOVE having him here so much! It's going to be one of the hardest parts of moving away!
When Jake was in Cali doing his carrier quals, Bunks came down and stayed with me! We had such a fun sis/bro weekend. Purdy was ecstatic! When you comin' back, Bunks? HURRY UP THANKSGIVING!

What a doll ...

Jake and I are probably the proudest Auntie & Uncle around. We love our little niece so much. Kristi & Rylynn came to visit this fall, and we couldn't get enough of our precious Rylynn. She sure is loved! We can't wait for our next visit. Wish we lived closer so we could babysit all the time!

Love this little one to pieces! Don't you think she's a doll?

Love & bows.

CRP Stopover

Jake had a solo out & in flight a couple of months ago, and he flew into Corpus for a quick stopover and dinner with Larry, Donna and I. We had so much fun watching him fly in, land and take off again after dinner. It was a neat experience. And, it goes without saying, I'm VERY proud of him.

Here are a few pix from our fun night out at CRP & Texas Roadhouse.
Love & jet fuel. XO.

Dallas Day

Had a fun Dallas day with Bunks and Grandmother on Monday. We went to our favorite - Campisi's - for lunch. Then we went to market to get my rings checked out, cleaned, etc. We topped our fun day off with dessert at La Madeleine's!
Definitely need to go on a MAJOR diet starting TODAY. We had so much fun, though. I love talks with David while eating our way through the big D. I'm so proud of my baby brother and the man he has and is becoming. Bunks - keep seeking God, taking in His word/doctrine and growing spiritually ... He will make clear and give you the desires of your heart.
I love you more than you know. Always have, always will.

ETX Fun

I've had so much fun spending time down in East Texas with my family and friends. We've shopped 'til we dropped, eaten Mexican food for almost every meal and been going non-stop! Feels just like home always felt. Saturday night Holley and I took off from Mom and Ashley's school with little Aubs.
He is so precious.
We went and got pizza and came home for family night with Dad and David. Mom came home in time for a slice of supreme and the feature presentation - Soul Surfer. GREAT movie if you haven't seen it yet.
David said that he was glad Aubs was there becuase it took all the "sister mauling" off of him. Don't worry - we didn't let him off that easy. Plus, now he gets a taste of how much we loved our baby brother! Bunks and Aubs are longhorn buds.
I think we wore little Aubs out. Not sure if it was all the playing, laughing, outfit-changing, car-riding or puking. Either way - he was sound asleep.
Fun day planned today with my baby brother. Just waiting on the soon-to-be college student to drag his long mop of hair out of bed. Let's go Bunks - we have places to go and shopping to do!

Decorating and Baby +

Last week and this one, too consisted/will consist of: decorating, painting, running around, shopping and falling in love with Jake all over again. With his baby pictures that is. I want a little boy JUST like him some day. I love his little carrot-topped head and his darling chubby cheeks.
And, honestly, how could you not fall head over heels for this precious little NB picture of Jake. And he's in his right colors, of course - thanks to his fashionista Mama!
On the decorating front - new find: this adorable lantern to go with my cozy living room decor. Love.
I found an antique white rocker for our bedroom that I'm cleaning up and restoring! It's over 100 years old! Jake has to fix the arm for me, and then I'll post pix. I also found the cutest antique footstool to go with it! Someday this will make its way to our future nursery. But for now, I can't wait to jump out of bed and into my shabby rocker for some morning coffee and Kiley time. xx to all.

DKN + Frederick

Like any good sister - I couldn't let my baby brother head off to college life at UT without monogrammed towels. And, ones that match the decor and colors of his dorm room sanctuary, of course. Khaki towels with a school-spirited-burnt-orange monogram: DKN. He's so fun to buy and do things for 1. b/c he never asks for things (OK, well sometimes), and 2. b/c he's always so thankful. I've had so much fun shopping and looking for things to decorate his dorm with. I think it's safe to say he'll have the best-looking dorm on the UT campus. Chambray/blue jean, khaki and burnt orange. Can't wait for move-in day. I don't know who's more excited - Bunkies or his seeeeeeeesters. Well maybe Purdy. She thinks they are warm and snuggle-y. She approves, I guess.

OK ... so now for the Frederick. While Jake and I were on our way to pick up David's new, monogrammed towels, we took a wrong turn and ended up on Frederick Street in Corpus. We had no idea it existed! All this time Jake grew up in CC and never knew he had a street named after him! It's the little things, I suppose, but it made us smile! So, glad we took that wrong turn and that Bunk's towels turned out so nice.
